Metabolic demands of NCAA football players with K4b2
During an NCAA footbal summer training camp, both linemen and backs were tested with COSMED K4b2 in order to understand their metabolic demands.
The study was carried our by the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory at the University of Ottawa in the summer of 2010. The purpose of this research was to quantify the energy expenditure and work done by NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) American football players and the differences between positional groups within the sport. This information is necessary in order to truly understand the metabolic strain cause by the sport itself and the stress it places on wet and dry heat loss mechanisms.
